Summer days are luxuriously
lazy at Hicks Orchard. The farm is a great place to bring
the kids and enjoy an easy summertime morning or afternoon
picking sweet, fat blueberries or tangy plump raspberries
by the pond. Or you can immerse yourself in the favorite
pastime of picking tart cherries for your summer pies. After
picking, a picnic in the shade by the pond is a treat. You
will be serenaded by bullfrogs and dragonflies as you relax
into slow-mode at the farm.
Of course, the goats will be calling for you to visit with
them back in the barnyard. Our friendly farm animals love
a scratch on the head or a handful of grain from the machine
(a quarter for a handful of feed).
Summer
Fruit Picking begins in Late June and lasts until mid/late
August. We are usually open every day during the summer
(we have had to close the blueberry patch for a couple days
to let more berries ripen in the past, so please check the
front page of this website before you make the trip out.
Boisterous greetings await you from our barnyard friends.
Tart cherries are very high in anti-oxidants. You can pick cherries here from the end of June through July.
If you like sweeter cherries, come to the farm at the end of June for the "Balatin" cherries. Although technically a "sour" cherry, it is very sweet like a "Bing".
Kids love to pick blueberries! Picking usually starts about mid July.
Looking for those low hanging blueberries...
We just couldn't stop picking!
Next up are juicy, sweet summer raspberries. U-pick starts mid July.
