NEW YORK STATE'S OLDEST U-PICK ORCHARD
Books, Bootleggers & Barbecue

About the Event
Hicks Orchard and Slyboro Ciderhouse will be hosting authors Philip Raymond Brown and Kevin Wilson for a family friendly evening of Books, Bootleggers and Barbecue on July 1 from 6 to 8:30 pm.
Brown, a native son of Granville, will be discussing his best selling novel It Gives You Strength and will be a prelaunch of the sequel to be released this fall Harvesting Earthlings For Fun and Profit. It Gives You Strength is set in 1926, the height of Prohibition, and follows an alien caught in a gang war for control of the Canada to NY bootlegging market. Legend has it that the alien, Tashan Zho, and one bootlegger, Major Mike Kelly hid alien and gangster relics around the Orchard. A scavenger hunt will be held that evening to find the ancient alien and bootlegger relics.
Wilson, who was raised in Granville and Saratoga, will be discussing his World War II epic novel, Sully’s Squad.
In addition to an author reading of the above books, there will be a costume contest -- dress as either an alien or a 1920s bootlegger or gangster -- and a scavenger hunt for children.
The event is free and open to the public but seating is limited.
