Very juicy. Tender, white flesh. Best Uses: Excellent for eating and sauces. Good for salads and pies.

Autumn Crisp - Cross between a Golden Delicious and a Monroe apple. Extra crisp and juicy. Fruit is sweeter than it is tart, making it great for apple slice snacks.

Gala - A great choice for snacking, it's got the mild flavor that "picky eaters" prefer, plus a striking bright yellow-red color that also makes it visually appealing. Profile: Mild sweet flavor, juicy, crisp, creamy yellow flesh. Empire - With the popular Red Delicious and McIntosh for parents, Empire is a sweet-tart combination that's very versatile. Juicy, very crisp, creamy white flesh. Excellent for eating and salads.Good for sauces, baking, pies and freezing.

Macoun - Extra-sweet and aromatic. Very juicy. Tender, snow-white flesh. Best Uses: Excellent for eating. Good for sauces and salads.

Northern Spy - As Grandma used to say, "Spies for pies!" Cooks firm. Also great for cider. One of the most famous of all American apples, it is a typical winter apple variety, picked in late October or early November, and then used through the winter months. It keeps in a cold storage well into spring.

Honeycrisp - Sometimes the name of an apple says it all. Honeycrisp apples are honey sweet (with a touch of tart) and amazingly crisp. Profile: Complex, sweet-tart flavor. Juicy. Super-crisp yellow flesh. Best Uses: Excellent for eating and sauces. Good for salads and pies. Special Hint: These ultra-crisp apples appeal to children and teens. They’re a great way to encourage healthy snacking.
